Best Career Path

One of the most important decisions a person can make is the choice of a career path. As early as kindergarten, adults will ask children what they want to be when they grow up. At the age of six, I thought I could grow up to be just like Carrie Underwood; obviously, that was a bit unrealistic, but this demonstrates the importance of the decision and the difficulty in selecting the best career path for the future. The probability of becoming an exact replica of the country singer was minute, so, unfortunately, I had to choose a different profession. Constantly changing my mind, I decided on a different career almost every year from then on. One year I wanted to be a chef, the next year I chose to be an author, and during my junior year of high school I wanted to become a radiologic technologist. By the end of my third year in high school, I thought I had my whole future planned. My plan was to attend a local college for four years and receive a bachelor’s degree. Clearly, the communication skills are vital to all courses and general aspects of life. Other valuable skill sets acquired from a liberal arts education include critical and creative thinking skills, ability to pose meaningful questions, problem-solving skills, critical reading skills, and other general skills that are useful for college students. Before I participated in renaissance art and a few English classes, my thinking was one-dimensional. Never digging deeper into the meaning or reasoning behind subjects, I considered everything to be linear.
