Art Vs Formalism

Art is expressed in many ways. I first got involved in art when I thought I wanted to be a clothes designer. I started drawing clothes and eventually started drawing items and living animals. After years have pass, I discontinued my clothes designing career and change it to the medical field but I still enjoyed drawing. So when the time came to take a humanity class in high school I chose drawing and 3D art. With these classes the product of my art has improve greatly and looks more realistic. I am already a genius when it comes to using the computer technology, using the 3D art program was really up my ally. All of these experiences has evolved into dancing. I find dancing ultimate way of expressing my feelings. Drawing and 3D art were fun …show more content…
So I believe that formalism is also the purpose of art. An artist take a piece of paper and draws a fancy circle. Another artist draws a fancy circle that is similar to the original art. People would compare the drawing and would more like call the original piece a work of art than the second one. The second one would just be a copy. I believe original pieces of art is what makes it art. If one hundred people writes the same or similar thing would it classified as original? The point of formalism is to separate yourself from normal standards and to be diverse. An original artist would be Picasso. When you think of drawings, a good painting is one that look more realistic. But not his paintings. Picasso painting are so colorful and abnormal. It sets itself different from other paintings. Because it is so diverse, anyone would recognize his …show more content…
In paintings or sculptures, good art is considered to be colorful or vibrant. The color(s) must stand out. I have a glass black mask hanging in my room. If it was just black I wouldn’t even consider keeping it but it does stand out. The face of mask have gold glittery steaks and red lips. With just to black color it looks bland but the gold and red makes the mask stand out. Bad art is dull. Picasso “Head” is believed to be bad. The colors are all dark and dull. There is nothing that stands out, no bright colors. My taste in good music is music that have a singer that are sopranos. I can’t sing so I would always try to sing in a soprano voice. Since I can’t sing in that way I find other artist that can. Operas, loud metal, and other types of music that have a soprano singers I love to listen to. Of course horrible music is anything that bad mouth people, have no rhythm, or no beat. Great theatre production must include the same guidelines to good music. Along with that, it must have a good story. A good story have to give the audience a strong positive attitude. It doesn’t matter how the story line goes but by the end of the production if I am not feeling positive in any type of way then it is a bad theory. If I go to a play excited I should leave the play on a positive note. I don’t like feeling sad and the theatre shouldn’t make me feel that

Simply put, I love dancing. I like moving my hips to the beat, feeling the rhythm inside my body like an electrical surge, enjoying every second of the music. Years have passed since I first started dancing, but I still have the same enthusiasm as if I am performing for the very first time whenever I hear a song that I danced to. Yet, dancing can be exceptionally intimidating and challenging, so much that I question my rationality at times.…

When I first started taking this class and even before I started taking this class when I thought of art I thought of beautiful bright pictures and now black and white pictures are just as important and can say just as much if not more than bright pretty paintings. This piece draws to me. I think if it was in color then it would be less defining. It might show color and show the woman lighten up or brighter than it does not when in reality she is far from light. She really is dark and grieving and has no way of showing…

When it comes to education, and what should generally be taught in schools, fine arts classes are consistently on the outermost rim of the educational spectrum. It is either the last to be added, or the first to be dropped in times of budget shortages or altered priorities. Many people believe that government funding of the arts is unnecessary and that funds could be directed elsewhere. Funding for the National Endowment for the Arts has long been a source of political controversy. In recent years there has been more discussion on the topic with many individuals either giving it praise or condemning it.…

For instance, Claesz, in trying to push his moral rather than the pure sentiment of art for art’s sake, sticks to local color and a realistic depiction of all the elements in his Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill. Like using simple words to tell various aesops, this plain decision does not distract from the story of futility Claesz tells in his painting, and can appeal to the widest range of people purely by faithfully presenting real objects they can identify. He is not, however, completely ignorant to the power which color can wield, as the highlighted area of the skull has a powerful contrast with the dark background, again serving to make Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill yet more high-impact, so it can more efficiently deliver its message. On the other hand, it is extremely difficult to discern whether Pablo Picasso used local color in Still Life with a Bottle of Rum, as his integration of the subject with the background is so absolute as to be unable to tell which plane is which part of the image. His overall color scheme is extremely muted, working only in browns and tones of black, white, and gray.…

ADVOCACY PAPER American exceptionalism has been disproved in our country’s history time and time again. Prejudice and bias have led to acts of discrimination upon certain social groups that are only condemned for the way that they look or the way they think. Studying culture through dance has shown me many diverse groups throughout the world and how they have been discriminated against. Growing up white in the middle class has made my life go right along with the majority of society, and therefore, I have not experienced much discrimination or prejudice throughout my life.…

Musical Theatre is a term that most people in today's society would recognize. Referring to stage productions fueled by song, dance and often a thriving plot, musicals can bring out emotions in humans, from joy to sorrow. However, it has taken years for theatre to become what it is today. The 1920's especially, with its boom years, elaborate creations and even struggles and controversies, was the peak of musical theatre and it is clear today to see everything the population has developed from that era and what people continue to evolve.…

When I was young, I didn't understand why art is created. Mostly I focused on what was tangibly in front of me and not what was underneath, which is the artwork's purpose. Never have I given much thought about the purpose of art, but it always striked a chord in me. Something that is hard for me to describe and explain in words. But thankfully these authors and their articles helped give me a better understanding of why I get this feeling.…

This particular piece has a caption alongside it, stating “perfection is my right” which also happens to be the title. This provides anchorage to the image like we have learned throughout the course of the semester. The colors are just simply black and white in this – it conveys a lot of meanings based on the location of the piece and because of the artist. The locational aspect of this piece does add value and meaning; the tenderloin section of San Francisco, California is near the hustle and bustle of the downtown area. It has a large amount of characteristics to it.…

Freedom is having the right to act, speak, or think as one wants, and having absolute freedom in creating art pieces mean that no one or no authority can censor it. Usually, authorities such as the government tend to censor art pieces at which they deem unfit and unsuitable for the public audience. The act of censoring is unfair for the artists, as it may mean that they do not have the freedom of expression through art, defeating the purpose of the artwork due to the removal of the main items of the art piece. Some artworks may even be censored either partially or totally although the artist did not have the intention to send whichever inappropriate message the authority has inferred from the art piece. However, sometimes authorities do have to censor, which some adults may disapprove of.…
