I am the son of two educators who understood the great importance of education and who worked diligently to successfully instill in me this understanding. I was born and raised here in Lea County and growing up in an area that is all about sports is a very hard thing to do when you are not athletic. Because of this I was never very popular among my peers. Even though sports were never my forte, I still “played” football only to stand along the sideline for every game where I would only get in for the occasional kneel down at the very end of the game. This never bothered me though because what I was good at was school. The one place where I did standout was in the classroom. I loved football and cared a lot about Wildcat Football, but I understood that it was only a game and what mattered most was my education. Throughout high school I was an all “A” honor roll student and participated in our school’s gifted program. I was a National Honor Society member throughout high school and kept up my grades while participating in Advanced Placement (AP). Honors, and dual credit classes. During my junior and senior year in high school I took a total of 42 college credit hours and this has allowed me to be a classified as a junior at Texas Tech after completing only one year. During my first year at Tech I was inducted into the Gamma Beta Phi Honor society for maintaining a GPA above 3.5 and this past semester I was named to the Dean’s
