I’m not going to start this story off like any normal story. No, this isn’t some Once-Upon-a-Time sort of thing. This was no ordinary story. But to be honest, I never really knew how to start a story. So, maybe I’ll just start it with an explosion. Yeah, that’s how I’ll do it. An explosion.

There was an enormous pain throughout my body. I felt myself where got shocked by the policeman’s staff. It stung. Of course, the police didn’t give me any sort of medication. They’d probably just sell them and use the money on the drinks that they all get every night. I tried to stand. My legs felt weak, but I still tried to stand on them. I surveyed the room, and saw something on my coffee table. A note. I picked it up to read it. Then, I snuck around to the back door of the office. That door lead straight to one of the office room, where a computer was. I only had to get into the computer before the containment troops got here. As I was hacking into the mainframe, I heard a noise on the other side of the wall. The troopers had arrived. I wasn’t finished. As I was approaching the list of names of people under house arrest, I realized something: The noise wasn’t from the other side of the wall. It was from the

Introduction My last semester at Middle Georgia State University as an undergraduate student was filled with a wonderful opportunity to intern with the Bibb County Sheriff Department. My internship experienced was supervised under the leadership of Cindy Gresham, the executive assistant of the agency. Historically, social control in Bibb County was maintained by two separate entities, the Bibb County Sheriff Department and the former Macon Police Department. There were multiple attempts to consolidate the two agencies in efforts to decrease the amount of tax payer dollars allocated to public service and to increase the effectiveness and efficiently of their service performance.…

Many factors influence how the public perceives the criminal justice system and the jail facilities that house our nations “most wanted” or “unwanted”. Amongst these factors include: television, the news, movies, books (The Shaw Shank Redemption or In Cold Blood), memoirs, political propaganda, and general education growing up in the United States. Each of these factors influences people, outside of the criminal justice system, to view it as something it is not or something far from accurate, leaving them with a picture not supported by facts. I too fell in this category before my visit to Montgomery County Jail. When I first arrived at the jail, I was immediately taken back by the structures modernity, almost looking like a hospital with no windows, lacking in color, and the fact that there were no long, barbwire fences enclosing the grounds.…

Military authority figures represented as officers have the duty to uphold the law and protect the people; protect and serve. Ideally, this duty would be performed by looking into cause and effect when it relates to crimes. An officer typically asks a suspect questions, proceeding with caution, followed by using his or her judgement of the suspect’s consequences. In cases of suspect hostility initial actions might include handcuffing, or at least that is what is portrayed in the movies. In today’s society it seems that such subtle actions are not initially taken and the law of “shoot now ask questions later” is upheld.…

all the more vigorously on detainment as a type of discipline than some other acculturated nation on the planet. The usage of mass detainment as a corrective answer for wrongdoing has made numerous issues for the criminal justice system. One of the greatest difficulties is overpopulation inside the remedial offices where detainees are housed.
