Through participation in this project, I have learned a lot about design process, working as a group, and communicating with teachers. I know that everything I just wrote sounds really cliche but let me explain. For example, I learned that design process and research go hand in hand . We had to research a lot of systems and the overall topic of hydroponics. By researching, we were able to create an efficient design because we were able to see what works and what doesn’t and what is necessary and what isn’t. I also learned about how to collaborate and cooperate with group members. My group members and I always had clashing ideas. But we had to learn to overcome this by talking it out. I learned that to achieve a common goal, you have to get rid of personal interest and build upon other’s ideas. This project also taught me the importance of communicating effectively with teachers. Mr. Kaneko made us fill out chat logs to show how many times we talked to him. These chat logs were graded, so we were sort of forced to talk to Mr. Kaneko. This wasn’t a bad thing though. I found that Mr. Kaneko had really good ideas and he helped us overcome a few challenges. Since this is an ongoing project, I look forward to the lessons that can still be learned from …show more content…
Through collaborating with professionals students are able to gain isight about how projects affect real work problems. By including engaging projects into the curriculum, students are kept interested in learning and are more likely to take risk to solve a problem. Because MPX integrates several disciplines into one project, student are able to make connections on a deeper level and thin outside of the one subject box. However, there are still ways that MPX can improve. For example, I believe that all teachers should use showbie as a way of turning in homework documents. Showbie has a very user friendly interface and allow teachers to easily collect assignment, compared to WebDav. WebDav is not only complicated for the student but also for the teacher. The student has to go through multiple server logins and if you manage to pass through all of them , you are probably going to be hit with a “request timeout” message. Other than that, MPX is a terrific program that
