I learned a lot about managing people during my time with habitat. My second day I was tasked with answering phone calls on the organizations behalf with little guidance as to what to say or what assistances was available to the caller. Eventually I would act as a liaison between residents and contractors as well as volunteers and coordinators.

The Habitat’s use of religious roots is what makes the organization so successful. “Habitat exists as a distinctly public manifestation of religious conviction that is compelling enough to mobilize thousands of American volunteers each year (Baggett, 2001.p.1).”
