3 The Impact of Texting Over the last century, technology has infiltrated almost every aspect of human life. From how we communicate, to how we learn, or even to how we do household chores, technology has influenced it all for most people in American society. In Sherry Turkle’s essay, “How Computers Change the Way we think,” she argues how the technological advancements of the computer have changed the way we think and how it has impacted our daily lives in today’s society. With most people constantly going and doing, many do not have time to stop what they are doing to answer the phone or meet someone in person. Texting has allowed people to send or respond to a text in a matter of seconds. As said in the article, "Cellular Phones as a Primary Communications Device: What are the Implications for a Global Community?" (how do you do this)“Mobile is immediate. Communication occurs instantly through connecting directly to someone's personal communication device. Texting, instant messaging and web searches are designed to occur immediately.” People are able to take texting anywhere that has cell service, this allows instant communication from almost anywhere and with anyone who has a mobile device. Texting can also be efficient for communicating with many people at once. Instead of having multiple people coordinate schedules to be able to meet, with today’s technology they can now participate in a group text. The invention of texting of a mobile device has greatly changed the way most people live their lives and how they interact.
