Personal Narrative: My First Cell Phones

Having lived 18 years, I’ve seen technology grow so much. The very first phone I could remember seeing or having was the Pink Motorola Razr, I know because that was my first cell phone. I remember being so excited and wanting to show it off to all of my friends at school. Then from the Razr I moved on to the Sidekick. The sidekick was my favorite, the phone whos screen could flip a whole 180 degrees and stand just on top of the keyboard. Now, 10 years later, having gone through so many phones, I see that technology has grown since. Businesses such as Apple, Microsoft, Verizon, Sprint, etc. create new technology every day. It makes you wonder what the world would look like in 10 years or so from now. Everyone’s stereotypical idea of the future is seeing flying cars, robots walking around town, and alien like features on humans.
Today, being a teenager, I could say that social media has a lot to do with our society now. A person’s life consists of waking up every morning and checking their messages on Facebook, twitter, or instagram and incoming e-mails from different people in their lives. The most popular one for teenagers is having a picture of their food, it shows a person what they are eating at the moment and how delicious it looks. Another being their clothes, painted nails, pets, but most important family photos. I know that when people take pictures it’s to have the memory always with them, but do you really need a memory of your food? Or how well your toenails looked painted? It just shows that people would rather base their lives off of, posting pictures on social media so everyone could see, instead of actually putting the phone down and enjoying what you have right in front of
