Soccer is one of the most popular sports around the globe in the world of sports. Also, known as football in the rest of the world, The fist apparitions of soccer dated back about 2000 years ago, in Ancient China during the Han Dynasty. The People would dribble balls made out of leather and filled with hair feathers in a military exercise called Tsu Chu. They would kick the ball into small nettings that were fixed with bamboo canes and at the same time they had to protect their selves from attacks. Meanwhile, Other sources claim that Ancient Egyptian, Greeks and Romans invested their free time in similar activities. The English equivalent of Tsu Chu was made using an inflated animal bladder. The number of players on the field also varied, in some circumstances, to as many as 1000 people could play at the time. As a result, there was no surprise that football matches often got out of control. It became a major problem in the 1800s that a highway act was put into function in 1830, stating that those who played football on highways would be required to pay a fine. During the 1800s, an important advancement happened and made soccer to become popular in universities, colleges and schools. Popular English Schools and Eton College invented a set of rules that they called the Cambridge rules. Soccer was divided into two teams, the rules allowed tripping, kicking and carrying the ball and the rules only permitted the use of feet and any other part of the body. In October 1863, eleven representatives from London clubs and schools gathered at the freemason’s tavern to set up the rules of the game. They came up with rules about the outlining of goal kicks, throw ins and the goalkeepers’ rights, all of which are still in today’s rules of the game. One of the most astonishing events of soccer history happened during World War I, a period of history represented by bloodshed and death on massive scales. It happened on Christmas eve of 1914, both sides walked towards no man’s land and they played a football game, while singing ballads. No one really knows who won the game, but this was the only moment in the trenches where artillery fire stopped. This memorable event became known as, The Christmas Day Truce of 1914. Another important in the history of soccer was in the 2010 World Cup that took place in South Africa. It was a defining moment for the nation that was under a regime of apartheid until 1994. The sport event brought people together and also presented to the rest of the world a different side of Africa and brought peace to the hosting country. Soccer has involved in numerous aspect since its first appearance. in the last century, it has shown many major positive impacts in divers countries, and as well as in the world at large.
