The Positive And Negative Effects Of Modern Technology

“Every new invention throughout history has given rise to concerns about the potential for bringing about disorder and even ruin. But ultimately . . . it is how we use the tools, especially for young people who have never been without them, that will make the difference between success or failure (Szumski, Karson).” Over the past few decades technology has grown to be more advanced and easily obtainable. In the classroom it has been found that technology can be beneficial through visual, audio and other tools that help other education (Williams). Technology in the classroom has also allowed students to see and do things they normally couldn’t, such as speaking with a scientist from across the world or exploring the ocean depths (Williams). By speaking with these scientist and seeing these normally hard to see things, some of the things taught in education become less abstract and easier to understand (Williams).By using software that can help create visuals to make it easier to visual a concept that might otherwise seem abstract or difficult to apply, a student can not only learn something faster, but at an earlier age. Through the use of technology the ability to create problems that are both interactive and under the learners control becomes a possibility. By using interactive software a student is able to play around with something and see the results. One example is a software called Thinkertools which allows students to mess around with physics and see the results of what they change (Williams). It
