1 Introduction In work places, an email and a phone are commonly used as basic communication tools. In addition to these, nowadays Instant Messaging draws attention of many companies all over the world. Its time-saving ability is known as one of the biggest advantages of Instant Messaging. A study by the Radicati Group (2004) examined its workers to complete two exemplary tasks both with and without Instant Messaging, and discovered that companies could save an average of 40 minutes a day per user with Instant Messaging. 3.1 Differences with email Instant messaging and email is similar in terms of sending text, but the differences are summarized in the section 1.2. As I mentioned in that section, email does not have a presence, pop-up displaying and a group chat function.
3.2 Differences with the phone The most remarkable point of the phone is being able to utilize “real time”. We can talk with the person in real time if we dial and get him or her on the phone.
