Human resource is a term used to describe the individuals who comprise the workforce of an organization, although it is also applied in labor economics. It is also the name of the function within an organization charged with overall responsibility for implementing strategies and policies relating to management of individuals.
Human resource law is related to labor and employment law and encompasses the various laws and regulations specific to HR professionals. Therefore every workplace has to potentially apply the use of local, state and federal law when it comes to hiring a new employee, relationship between employer and employee, a discrimination in every form, and sexual harassment.
Therefore, there are two types of sexual harassment: Quid pro quo which means the involvement of expressed or implied demands for sexual favors in exchange for some benefits or to avoid some detriments or terminations or demotions in the workplace. The second type is hostile work environment harassment is when speech or conduct is so severe and pervasive that creates an intimidating or demeaning environment or situation that negatively a person’s job performance. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public (Mathis, 2013).
