China has developed extremely in the last 30 years. However, many countries including the mainland of China are facing the challenge of high youth unemployment. The Social Science institution of the Chinese Academy argues that the youth unemployment will have social, political and economic impacts on all aspects of the country (The Social Science institution of Chinese Academy. This essay will discuss the major reason, which causes the high youth unemployment from two aspects, economic situation and the current educational system nowadays. Furthermore, it discusses the most effective response to this issue and the possible consequences when implementing these responses.

This is a major reason of high youth unemployment. Usually, the low-educated people can find the job easier than high-educated people, because of the economic structure. Hereinto, the employment rate in agriculture was 34.8 percent, and it in industry and services was 29.5 percent and 35.7 percent separately. Besides, the index of average real wage of urban wage increased by 11.4 percent in decades, from 2004 to 2014. Therefore, as can be seen from the data, the employment rate and the unemployment rate are affected by the adjusting of economic structure. Consequently, the issue of youth unemployment is a structural problem, which is caused by the adjusting of economic structure, not a cyclical problem. The country can not create sufficient numbers of high-quality positions for high educated but need more labor or worker. However, the number of institutions of higher education has been on the rise over the past two decades. Most universities expand their size to recruit more students, which is also a reason of youth unemployment nowadays. In addition, the educational policy maker and the government are more interested to train the elite than occupational education.
