Electronic Health Record Systems offer many features that are designed to increase both the quality and the utility of clinical documentation and enhance communication between all healthcare providers. Choosing the correct electronic healthcare system is a very important task. Healthcare facilities should select an EHR system based on the selected goals chosen by the facility. Although this system is viewed as complex by some new users, it highlights the patient’s demographics and history without having to conduct a detailed search. If a patient has been admitted to the facility within the last 30 days the provider is able to retrieve the information from a prior visit. This includes any other hospital that was accessed within the hospital system. All information documented from other facilities will be visible to current providers.
