Take a look at Julie Gilbert, she was diagnosed with ADHD at the age 10, she was very smart but she was labelled, she was put in special needs program alongside kids with severe disabilities, when she would question why she’s there she was told that she is no better than any of the other kids, growing up she eventually believed that she was stupid, even though her attitude was influenced by the outside, she was living it as if it was coming from her, she didn’t do well in school, didn’t have many friends and the staff didn’t think much of her, leading her to the attitude that she’s “ going to end up as a drooling, over medicated lady in a home for society’s leftovers.” She looked into military as alternate to college, she was convinced that she’s less than others and couldn’t make it in college. she scored above average on all of her exams, every general wanted her and she became a crypto linguistics analyst, she realized that she’s not stupid at all, she’s just different. Her attitude changed and her whole world changed, she studied about her condition and realized that her approach and attitude towards school had been misguided, she wasn’t less than others, she just learned in a different manner, she went back to school again, but this time with a positive attitude, she has over twenty four college credits with a GPA of 3.8, well above the average, proving that …show more content…

Change does not come instantly, in fact for most passionate people "life becomes a long exercise in delayed gratification”. that’s what many students go through, knowing that they are working for a bigger picture, they keep their positive attitude and work towards their purpose, and that’s the case with single mother Danielle Barbuto, she’s a single mother of a 15 month old son, full time student and a part time worker, She has to deal with a lot on daily basis, and for many just being a single mother is enough to not do anything else, but her attitude was that she has to learn more to grow more, she doesn 't complain about her current situation and instead works harder towards her purpose. “ Because this is what I have to do as a single mom in order to have a better life for me and my son”. Julie’s world flipped upside down when she changed her attitude, it went from picturing a future where “ she’s in a home for society’s left over” to a future MIT programing student because she changed the way she was looking at herself and the world.
