The agency serve youths ages 13-24. Safe Space goal is to prevent, enhance, and remediate. They provide programs to help prevent social problems and enhancement programs to help youths with social functioning. In addition, they also provide counseling to address an existing problem. Their services includes case management, counseling, referrals, housing placement, and tutoring. One social problem that Safe Space addresses is homelessness. Physical, sexual and emotional abuse, homophobia, poverty, mental illness are some of the reasons why many young adults today are facing the issue of homelessness. We know that homelessness is a social problem because “one-month prevalence estimates of homelessness among public high school students ranged from 3.9 percent to 5.9 percent of all students in Connecticut, Delaware, and Philadelphia.” (Cutuli et al., 2015). Not only does the issue of homelessness affecting adults, but it is affecting vulnerable youths. There are many view on the seriousness of homelessness. Many believe that people are lazy, dirty and should take responsibility of what happened to them. However, others see this as a serious issue that needs to be addressed. We have young adults and families living on the street because of various reasons. Something needs to be done and Safe Space is helping young people to access to shelters, permanent or supportive housing and
