Art is a beautiful way to reflect life. Art can tell a story, an expression or an emotion. In the artwork, "The Illiterate", it shows a blindfolded man with arms stretched outward walking off a cliff. The blindfold gives me the impression of a man who cannot see. Being illiterate is similar to not seeing, like having a blindfold over our eyes. The image of the man walking off a cliff, also reminds me that being illiterate can be dangerous. In our society, not being able to read or write can be quite dangerous. Being homeless can be dangerous. Another impairment of being an illiterate, is being unable to read warning signs of approaching danger. Just like the man is unable to see where he is going, in life, if you can't read or write it is like being "blind". You would be unable to fully communicate to humanity and not read precautions. Even though you can ask for help from others, who can read and write, there might not always be someone there to help you. From the image of "The Illiterate", we can conclude that not being able to read or write can not only be frustrating, but also dangerous.
