Threat Identification The ideology behind Domestic Terrorism is that terrorist-like acts are carried out by those residing within the country of the attack. According to 18 U.S.C. § 2331, Domestic terrorism is defined as: “[activities that] Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law; Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and; Occurring primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.” (Terrorism, 2016).
United States citizens and those residing in the U.S. have access to so many different programs, utilities, and resources; sometimes it can become hard to make sure everything is done in a safe and efficient manner. Because these residents have access most of these things, it could become very easy for someone to gain access of something that they should not have in the first place. For example, it may be very simple for an individual to go out and buy a gun, or maybe some chemicals for an explosive device, and then use it for mass destruction or chaos.
