Every country has a different type of government. Government is a united nation that takes control of the community to be well mannered. Many philosophers came up with different ideas for a strong government because they believed that society would be more systematic with the aid of it. A functional government helps the community to be more developed and guides people to have an equal voice. The government in the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding has no systematic government. Golding wrote a book about few British boys that gets crash landed in the deserted Island. The boys try to have a standard government with a leader named Ralph. However the government collapses because of the shortage of resources that are needed for them to …show more content…
His famous statement that he said was, “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” (“Biographical briefing on Voltaire”). Voltaire clearly states that people have the right to express their thoughts about an opinion or a situation,even if it inequitable. He also believed that the ideas of the citizens can progress decisions in the government. Freedom of speech is important, because it cooperates the citizens to express their ideas and help plant them in the community. It is important to have this quality of government because people have right of equality to reveal their opinions which in the end helps them to realize that they are important in the society. In Lord of the Flies, the readers see the absence of “Freedom of Speech” in the government when Piggy does not have a say,“Jack says, “I don’t believe in no ghosts-ever! … Who cares what you believe - Fatty!” (Golding 90). The statement “who cares what you believe” shows that Jack does not respect the ideas or opinions of other citizens. He wants everyone to follow him and support his thoughts.
