I am particularly drawn to UW’s DNP degree, as it facilitates the development of autonomous nurses who perform “at the highest level of leadership in practice and scientific inquiry.”1 Furthermore, I believe UW’s doctoral study will propel me into a desired culture of lifelong learning. UW will promote my growth as a leader in scientific inquiry to continuously appraise emerging data in order to effectively manage current and future problems, and improve standards of care. This is highly valued as a prospective practitioner, as high quality patient outcomes hinges on evidence-based practice and lifelong learning. My use of strong collaboration skills to lead a pilot program in the transformation of high school education to include basic competencies in promoting adolescent health illustrates that I would be the ideal nurse practitioner.
