As a Business Support Officer at the DSS, I prepared an internal budget bid for the Victorian State Office for the State Manager. I consulted with Directors on their staffing profiles for next financial year and their forecast training and travel expenditure. I entered this in the budget tool - TM1, which calculated the total budget bid.
I provided information for the preparation of the Department’s annual financial statements. I completed end of financial year statements which included the annual accrual return and commitments return. This involved me preparing accrual journals and consulting with Directors on commitments. I also prepared monthly accrual financial statements, by entering monthly journals and consulting with the Australian Accounting Standards, which sets the financial reporting standards for all reporting entities in Australia.
An Executive level 1 requested if that position had the delegation to approve departmental expenditure of $65,000 on training. According to the Department of Social Services Resource Management delegations, an Executive Level 1 had a delegation limit of up to $50,000. Thus, I advised that the appropriate delegate would be an Executive level 2, as that position has delegation of up to
