The Iceman Research Paper

The Iceman better known as Otzi, was found buried within the ice of the Alps in the 1990’s. Ever since then people have tried to come up with theories for how Oetzi was murdered over 5,000 years ago. He lived at the end of the Ice age, and the beginning of the stone age. Otzi was five feet two inches tall and around forty to fifty years old. He had been a person of large significance during his time. Now in the 21st century we might have a clue as to why he died. Otzi died after retreating from a long and well-fought battle. He had survived the battle but was killed while retreating uphill. He died because someone from his battle accidently shot him after the battle was over thinking he was an enemy. They discovered a deep cut in his hand, that was too deep to have been accidental. His fingers were found curled, which could mean that he had been trying to hold something. Examiners also found that he had multiple broken ribs within his body. He also looked like he had recently had a severe head trauma that couldn’t have happened by accident. There was also dried blood of many different people that was found on his belongings, such as his cloak and weapons. The place which he was found is also a boundary area between two places, so it might’ve been a battle over territory. After he survived the battle he began to retreat uphill away from the battle. Then he went back down the hill to see if there were any remaining survivors besides him. After finding no remaining survivors he began to retreat back uphill. The evidence to support this is that they found layers of pollen within his stomach. The first layer has pollen that matches with trees from the bottom of the hill. The next layer of pollen matches with more towards the top of the hill. They are layered on top of each other to show that he had went up and down the hill very
