World hunger is one serious issue in society. World hunger causes many deaths and hunger related illnesses every year. Hunger can have certain affects on different countries, families, and young children. Hunger is one problem that society does not have a solution for. World hunger is caused by poverty, war, and lack of resources. Anup Shah states, “Almost half of the world’s population lives in poverty” (Poverty Facts and Stats). People who live in poverty suffer economically due to low wages.There are many people that are not employed, so they are unable to put food on the table. There are some who lack the money and federal funds to get food. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, war has a negative impact on hunger because money is being spent on weapons and agricultural areas are …show more content…
Many students are unable to focus because they lack nutrition. It’s difficult for a child to study when all they can think about is food. The average student worries about understanding lessons while others think about when they will have their next meal. Eating is a way to get energy and without food the body isn’t functioning properly. Students may seem tired or not interested in learning because they do not have enough strength to keep them awake in class. The Feeding America program states, “Hunger can cause behavioral challenges such as fighting, aggression, hyperactivity, anxiety, mood swings, and bullying” (Child Development). Clearly hunger has a major impacts in people’s mental abilities. Hunger causes abnormal behaviors which is dangerous for other people. If students are disrupting the learning environment then this will affect other students. It will cause other problems in schools such as students behaving violently and becoming depressed.
