However, Katniss is going to try and fight these serious effects by using the friendships she has with fellow survivors. In the book “The Hunger Games Mocking Jay” Katniss has many friends but she thinks they’re trying to kill her. If I was in katniss and I was in her place I would have made the same choices she made. On (page twenty eight paragraph four ) it states that president snow told katniss that they have a problem when she pulled out the poison berries at the the end of the hunger games when the game maker said that there can only be one victor. Seneca Crane was the one that let katniss and Peeta be both victors because katniss and peeta pulled out the poisonous berries and he stopped them because he had to have a victor that two is better then none. President snow executed Seneca for what he had done that gave katniss the chills down her spine.…
The more attention Katniss gets, then Katniss will able to survive in The Hunger Games. In the novel, Collin writes “Katniss the girl who was on fire” (Collins 67). In the quote, the audience sees Katniss and already starts to love Katniss outfit that Cinna designed for the debut of the opening ceremonies. Cinna wanted to make the audience to like Katniss by telling Katniss just to be herself but forget what Haymitch said about how Katniss looks like. Cina is also trying to convince Katniss to not give up but win The Hunger Games.…
Katniss volunteers after her sister Prim gets chosen to battle in The Hunger Games, Katniss then goes to The Capitol, at this point Katniss crosses the threshold. Katniss immediately feels out of place and different, “Why do these people speak in such a higher pitch? Why do their jaws barley open when they talk? Why do the ends of their sentences go up as if they’re asking a question,” (Collins 61)? Katniss is experiencing things that are unknown to her.…
This is important because now there are less competitors and she gets her bow from one of the careers. Katniss then lays low for a little while with her partner Rue. Eventually she decides she needs to take action against the careers and forms a plan to blow up their food. She blows up the food successfully, but when she returns she finds Rue dying. She then covers her body in flowers and sings her to sleep.…
Katniss in the book and film series is a resilient character showing the bad things that have happened to her, but she still picks herself up and fights for what she believes in. Which is a powerful message for fans of the books and the films showing even the weakest can become the strongest. She was never meant to be a hero but became one as soon as she volunteered for her younger sister to save her from the horrors of the Hunger Games. She became a symbol of leadership and courage for fans of the…
In the book “The Hunger Games,” the main character Katniss chose to take the role of her sister when fighting for her family and friends. But, in the capitol they had to fight against their district. Katniss was determined to get her way out of the capitol and save her friends and family. “...All twenty-four of us stand in one unbroken line in what must be the first public show of unity among the…
The Hunger Games are supposed to serve as a reminder of the revolution and ensure peace. However, in reality the Hunger Games is a violent bloodbath designed to promote fear. The protagonist, Katniss, volunteers as tribute for the twelfth district to protect her sister. As she progresses through the game she provides hope because she challenges the traditional roles of the tributes when she outperforms the wealthier districts and helps another tribute. President Snow sees Katniss as a threat on the Tyrannical system and believes it could lead to another revolt.…
Being a physically talented woman allows her to make people believe that her side will ultimately be the winning one. This gives Katniss the ability to lead effectively, as those following her look up to her in part because of her strength. An effective leader will protect those they love and those who follow and believe in them. This is clearly demonstrated in Katniss’ first Hunger games. The Hunger games are a competition invented by the Capitol (the essential elite government) where a tribute from each district (the working classes) is drawn at random to compete to the death in a programmed arena until a lone victor remains.…
This was not okay with the capitol, but despite the frowns Katniss wanted to give her condolences to Rue’s family. At the end of the games, Katniss displayed a substantial amount of deviance. At the end of the games, it was only down to Katniss and Peeta, Katniss refused to kill Peeta therefore the district was forced to interrupt the dome, this is when they both became unconscious. In the 74 years of games, this was the first time anything of the nature had happened, in which she showed a sense of rebellion. Later in the film, when Katniss becomes a victor, he deviance gives her a label.…
Throughout the book, her intelligence is exemplified with her awareness of surveillance. First, Katniss was conscious of the cameras as soon as she volunteered to take Prim’s place. Kelley Wezner says, “… Katniss equates the cameras with self-control as she struggles to contain her tears so that she will not look weak to competitors during the evening of replays of her district’s reaping” (154). I believe Katniss was smart to hold back her emotions because if she didn’t she would have looked like an easy target to the other tributes and I also believe her ability to control her emotions at such a problematic time showed her mental strength and possibly helped her gain sponsors. The second example is during the first night in the games when Katniss is hiding out in a tree and she finds out Peeta is working with the careers.…
Her identity as a hunter overrides everything else in her struggle to stay alive against the other tributes. “Katniss is a capable killer of both animals and people… By killing people, she proves that she can outlive their enemies. Through both hunting and defending her life against their attackers, she proves that she is a survivor,” (Oliver 683). In the arena, Katniss uses her hunting skills to take down other tributes like she would the animals around District 12.…
On the other hand Tessie Hutchinson is in the drawing for The Lottery, which is a drawing to see which person gets stoned in their village. After Katniss gets selected to compete in the Hunger Games, she was taken to the capital where she was trained to survive. While in training she worked on her fighting, archery, and survival skills, which are all necessary to win the hunger games. Coming out of district twelve she was considered the underdog because that district is very poor. She uses that motivation to prove that she is the true hero in The Hunger Games.…
Katniss is thrown unwillingly into the spotlight and made a celebrity for The Hunger Games. She is wracked with nerves for every interview and appearance she has to make in the lead up to the sadistic reality show but she puts on a smile and fights through it. Katniss is described by her mentor Haymitch as “sullen and hostile”. Throughout the games, Katniss has the internal struggle of choosing between two things, her allies and friends she makes during the games or survival, which means getting back home to her sister Prim and her best friend Gale. At one point, Katniss even attempts to sacrifice herself and a friend in an act of rebellion against the cruel, vindictive President Snow that has supressed, starved and tortured the districts for 74 years.…
Most people in the districts know that if a young girl, like Katniss, was to volunteer and go into the Hunger Games that she would most likely die and not be able to stand her ground. Throughout the whole movie and games, Katniss struggles to prove that she is strong and worthy of this. For example, at one part of the movie, she perfectly aims her arrow right next to all the government officials who refused to pay any attention to her skills. This can be related to the modern day struggle that women still have in this country when competing for army or navy seal positions. Men and even some woman, every day, say how men are physically stronger which means they are much more capable.…
