When Katniss is with Cinna right before she is transported into the arena Cinna tells Katniss one thing that could be the game changer for Katniss. “And remember this. I’m not allowed to bet, but if I could, my money would be on you” (146) This quote shows Katniss gaining hope because since Cinna said that, that Katniss would gain a lot of hope and show that Cinna was saying the right thing and it could help her win. It also shows her gaining hope because she wants Cinna to be happy and she wants everyone who loves her to be proud of her and that if she wants that she can have hope that whoever bet on her would make her happy. This quote is important to The Hunger Games because it could give Katniss from having no hope to having a lot of hope and she could win now. And it is also important because having hope means that you have the desire to do something and when you have hope you really want to so you are determined and nobody can stop you from not winning the Hunger Games. Not only does Katniss gain hope but Katniss also loses hope throughout the novel The Hunger
