Next, one of the most obvious characteristics Katniss and Tris share is their determination and strong-will when dealing with hardships. In ‘The Hunger Games’, Katniss persevered to stay alive in the arena where she was deprived from basic necessities. Even though the probability of her winning the game was odd against so many skilled ‘assassins’, she remained hopeful and conquered the obstacles thrown at her by the game makers. Barely making it through the cruel booby traps set up by the capitol to make the televised event more ‘exciting’, Katniss got injured many times, but that did not kill her spirit. Katniss’ determination moved her mentor, Haymitch and consecutively gained huge sponsors who agreed to send medical supplies to aid her condition. …show more content…
During her ability assessment, she shot an arrow at the judge’s panel when they refused to give her the attention and the basic respect that she deserved. Similarly, in ‘Divergent’, Tris showed determination after she joined Dauntless, a faction where she clearly did not fit in because of her Abnegation upbringing. However, Tris was resolute to go through intense training to make herself physically and mentally fit to avoid elimination and to make the final cut of becoming a Dauntless member. Although she was still under recovery from her previous combat, she fought her way out of a guarded room and chased after a moving train to convince Eric, the head of Dauntless of his wrong judgement. These scenarios perfectly captured Katniss and Tris as determined and strong-willed individuals in their unique ways. Likewise, Katniss and Tris are

The next piece of evidence that I found was when Tris had to go stand in front of a knife throwing target and she had to stay still. If she moved then she was kicked out of dauntless. Four then threw knives at her and cut off a chunk of her ear. When Tris had to stand in front of the target to protect a friend, she was showing a lot of bravery because she didn’t want her friend to get kicked out of dauntless. Later on, Tris was training and had to fight someone, she was beat up and was unable to do thing and was in the dauntless “hospital”.…

Everyone knows of the Hunger Games and the series Heroine, Katniss Everdeen. While it may not be obvious at first glance, Katniss and Hercules are comparable heroes. While Hercules faces legitimate mythical monsters such as Hera, madness, the Hyrda, and Cerberus, Katniss faces more human monsters, such as President Snow, Cato, President Coin, and PTSD. Katniss faces all her trials at once, while Hercules faces them over several years; Katniss's overall trial is fighting for her life. She does everything she has to in order to survive, jumping through every hoop thrown at her by the Capitol, until she comes to a happy ending at the end of Mockingjay.…

A place in the book where Katniss shows her skills is when she is ranked number eleven (top) by the Game makers against the twenty-four other tributes. This is significant because it shows the other tributes how good Katniss is with weapons, gives Katniss more sponsors, and encourages Katniss more to win. A place in the book where Katniss shows that she has not given up hope is when she talks about the feeling that she will be able to make it back home alive. This is crucial because she can’t let down her mother and Primrose. They would just not be able to survive as Katniss is now the head of the family In short, this is how I would describe Katniss…

Have you ever been forced into a life-or-death circumstance? Forced to kill someone, even though you are a peaceful person? Probably not, but this describes characters from two of my favorite books. Harry Potter, from Harry Potter by J.K Rowling, and Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. They are heroic people, they are heroic because, first, they were forced into demanding, life changing circumstances at a young age, yet emerged victorious, second, they both had many losses in their life, but they didn’t let their losses bring them down.…

Katniss is thrown unwillingly into the spotlight and made a celebrity for The Hunger Games. She is wracked with nerves for every interview and appearance she has to make in the lead up to the sadistic reality show but she puts on a smile and fights through it. Katniss is described by her mentor Haymitch as “sullen and hostile”. Throughout the games, Katniss has the internal struggle of choosing between two things, her allies and friends she makes during the games or survival, which means getting back home to her sister Prim and her best friend Gale. At one point, Katniss even attempts to sacrifice herself and a friend in an act of rebellion against the cruel, vindictive President Snow that has supressed, starved and tortured the districts for 74 years.…
