Kit-Katniss Everdeen: The Girl On Fire "No one will forget me. Not my look, not my name. Katniss. The girl who was on fire" (Collins 70). Inspiration and hope is what Katniss Everdeen gives to all tributes and citizens living in each district. In the novel, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen, the 16-year-old protagonist, who lives in District 12 in the country of Panem, has a caring, rebelling, and a strong-willing personality when she is in contact people close to her or towards the Capitol. As the novel progresses, Katniss presents herself to be compassionate towards those who she loves, having a rebellious attitude towards the Capitol, and is known for her strong-willing personality which become qualities that make her to become the girl on fire. Foremost, Katniss is a compassionate person because she is someone who shows her sympathy and concerns for the people she loves. Ever since the death of her father, Katniss along with Gale, illegally sneak under the fences to hunt for food to save her family from starvation. She puts herself in danger in order to keep her family alive. The day of reaping has come for the annual Hunger Games to take place in District 12. Effie selects a random strip of paper out of the girls’ reaping bowl which eventually has Primrose Everdeen’s name on it. Prim is selected as a tribute for the 74th annual Hunger Games, but Katniss offers herself without any hesitation. “I volunteer!” “I volunteer as tribute!”…
