The ones who survive are the ones fitted for victory, in whatever the case may be. Survival is a hard thing to assure. It is never an easy thing to do, especially when death is staring you straight in the face. The two stories, “The Hunger Games,” by Suzanne Collins and “Knifepoint,” by Alex Van Tol, both dedicate themselves to being about surviving some treacherous events in a young female’s life. Katniss, the young lead female role in the story “The Hunger Games,” is entered into the games, which is a battle to death among oneself and 23 other tributes, including one other tribute from their own district. Jill, from the story “Knifepoint,” finds a summer job as a tour guide. She enjoys her summer job, until one day, she stumbles …show more content…
Both female characters manage to escape and survive the most terrifying events using devious strategies. This is why I chose the topic of survival to go into full depth and detail in relating these two stories to my topic.

In the story, “The Hunger Games,” the very young female lead character, Katniss, lives in one of the 12 districts in all of Panem, District 12. This district is one of the most poor districts in all of Panem. Luckily, Katniss is a quite fascinating hunter. She is very skillful and can use a bow and arrow fairly well. During the training assignment, Katniss shot a bow at the roasted pigs apple that was in it’s mouth because none of the head leaders were watching her. After they all looked at her in shock, she bowed to them and walked away. Nobody knew if that was a good thing or a bad thing that she did that, not even the leads themselves. Even Peeta himself mentions to Haymitch whenever she hunts, she hits squirrels right in the eye every single time she shoots at one. So it’s pretty obvious she is an extremely well-based hunter and can possibly manage to survive quite farther
