I think that because of the ever evolving world of technology, where we spend so much time LOL’ing and typing things like “What RU doing?” that we have lost sight or possibly diminished our writing skills. Yes, it’s great, but there are days when my kids come into the house and are talking to each other, saying things like “OMG, at lunch bae did this…” And, I am standing there thinking, “What is a bae?”

Over this past weekend, my daughter had to write an essay about the “Hunger Crisis in America.” I asked her if I could read her essay. I’m not sure if spelling, punctuation, or grammar are even important in the 6th grade. You wouldn’t know it by this essay that she had spent at least twelve hours writing.
