The first argument I put forward to support dualism is; the brain and mind of human beings are different from each other. They both have unique properties and distinctive roles in human beings. The brain has definable characteristics that can be observed and analysed (Robinson, 2012, p.2). Descartes disproved this theory with his own motto “I think, therefore I am” (Holden, 1991, p.1376). In other words, Descartes couldn’t dissuade himself that he did not exist because Descartes realised his thoughts were original. So, Descartes reasoned if his thoughts of his mind are real, the body that houses the thought exists and so the brain is real as well (Holden, 1991,
