is human’s eternal separation from God as a result of their sinful disobedience. Human’s first
temptation to sin was because of their desire to be like God and acquire the knowledge of God.
Satan tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden and told her that if she would eat of the fruit of the
tree of knowledge of good and evil she would become like God. The only forbidden tree in the
entire garden was the one Eve wanted. Isn’t this true for all humans we want the forbidden?

other creatures have the ability to reason and reflect on what is happening to them and why?
We can explore our human nature and the divine nature of God and attempt to discern God’s
will for his creation. Christians believe that God created us in His image.
Genesis 1:26 “The God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they

Christians believe that humans consequently are born in a sinful condition as a
result of falling prey to Satan’s temptation to disobedience to God.
Christians believe that God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ entered the world to restore
humanity from its sinful state to right relationship with God. God sacrificed His only Son to live
as a man being both fully human and fully divine to die the death of a criminal on a cross to
save humanity from spiritual death and eternal separation from Him. Christ’s resurrection from
the dead overcomes even physical death so that humanity may live forever in the Kingdom of
God.
Luke 10:19 “And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightening.
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power
of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. “Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits
are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”
Let us go back to the question of our human condition “what is happening to me and why?
