Introduction: User interfaces are an integral part of the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) process. It is not just the computer that opts for an efficient interface but most of the machines have their own interface where a human should be able to give a command to the machine ("Introducing User Interface Design," no date). As stated in the article (Marcus & Gould, 2000) it has been widely approved that a good user interface is necessary for the better execution and request to the user. The user interface advancement process centres consideration on understanding users and recognising demographic differing qualities. Mobile applications are the wonder that is expanding quickly because of the pervasiveness and fame of cell phones among end-users (Hammershoj et al., 2010). There are many useful mobile applications that power business in day to day life. Some of them are Email management applications, Mind-Mapping applications e.g. Evernote, Conferencing application, Documentation apps, Travel apps etc. (Azam, 2015). The AT public transport application is one of the key application bridgings between the commuters and the Auckland Transport system.
The AT public transport application brings to you the AT Public Transport Mobile App for the mobile phone, featuring Journey Planner, Real Time board for buses, trains, and ferries in the Auckland region and Find My Stop functionality, making it easy for you to locate your stop using your phone (AT, No date). As Auckland Transport took this noble initiative in order to make commuters life as easy as possible, sometimes it seems to be a half-hearted effort. The application developed lacks in user friendly UI and most of the time the commuters find themselves lost in the middle of nowhere.
