The house was all wrong for them. It was not built wrong nor was it decorated wrong. Something just felt very wrong. It was a beautiful house and it was very cheap, according to Persephone’s parents. But something did not seem right about the house, it felt like there was a negative force surrounding them. Although the house was very bright by the inside, it seemed as if there was a storm cloud ready to strike frightful and deadly lightning through their lives.
When they moved in, the furniture that was already at their new home, it seemed antiquated but new; as if the furniture had not been used since the 1960’s. Persephone’s mom was in love with the antiquated furniture, she did not feel the urge to move it to the garage or get rid of it.

She starred at her room and screamed at the top of her lungs. Her parents ran up the stairs to check on Persephone, when they got to her room they started asking Persephone if she was okay, and what had happened? Persephone kept on screaming “look!” “Look around you! Don’t you see the blood all over the furniture?” Her parents looked around in confusions, “what are you talking about Persephone?” There is no blood on the furniture.” “What?” Persephone shouted in shock as she looked up and noticed all the blood …show more content…
She went up into the attic and while she was up there she found boxes, boxes that did not belong to her or her parents. Persephone felt the urge to go through the boxes, as she reached the bottom of the box she found a jewelry box that caught her attention. She was curious to know what was in the box, when she opened it she became overwhelmed; she found very old horrific pictures. As she went through the pictures she realized that the background on all of the pictures she had one through were taken in her very own home. She came into conclusion that the people on these were probably previous owners of the house, when she was up to the last picture she realized that the people in that picture must have been the first owners to the house. Suddenly, she felt someone put a hand on her arm. At first Persephone it was her father trying to get attention, but when she turned around she noticed it was not her father. She did not know who he was, she could not tell by his face because it was deformed. But at the same time she was not scared of him nor did she felt the urge to scream. Persephone did not feel the urge to scream because he seemed harmless and he wanted to play with her. For an hour they spent playing with a small ball; they rolled it to each other, until her mother called her name and Persephone jumped a little and turned around. “I’m going down mom” Persephone said still starring at the door of the attic

Odysseus’ absence from his household has left it unprotected and vulnerable to forces that might ruin its integrity, a great fear that makes his need to return home so urgent and strong, as Odysseus describes: “‘Yet, it is true, each day I long for the sight of home. If any god has marked me out again for shipwreck, my tough heart can undergo it. What hardship have I not long since endured at sea, in battle! Let the trial come’”(V.228-33).…

That said, this story also relates to themes of spiritual communication and healing, but with a slight twist. This spiritual descent is forced upon Persephone instead of being a willing choice, like Inanna, perhaps being an extension of the idea of evil spirits toying with people. Then, just as she is about to escape, Persephone is permanently bound to the Underworld by eating the pomegranate. The Underworld punishes her for taking from it and thus becomes a part of the Underworld herself.…
