In the book Barrymore is seen walking down the halls late at night to head to a balcony. On the balcony of the house he is signaling the escaped convict who is part of his family, that there is food ready outside and that it is safe to come out. He is using the candle to talk to him from a distance so that he would not get caught. They use the light to communicate to each other. In the movie there was is a scene with John as he, Sherlock and Henry are heading into the forest. John spots the light in the distance which keeps flashing in a pattern. He thinks it may be a morse code and someone is trying to tell him something. He writes down what the light makes out. In both the movie and the book there is a similarity of morse code and with some differences. I feel that this scene was created to mainly show the differences of technology and how even in the older times they were still able to do more technological things. In the book they first see the H.O.U.N.D. after they heard a scream come from in the moor and both Sherlock and Watson ran to what it was and this is when they first confronted the H.O.U.N.D. which had already attacked Sir Henry Baskerville. The H.O.U.N.D. looked demon like and had red eyes its feet had chemicals on them which made it look even more menacing. In the book the H.O.U.N.D. was made more for the time. There was no thought of some genetically engineered dog but a dog which was just a much larger dog from what they mystery made it sound like. The H.O.U.N.D. in the movie was created by the fog which drugged you into seeing the H.O.U.N.D. It caused you too see the scary demon dog which would attack people who came close to an area. In the movie the H.O.U.N.D. which was created with the use of science. They had thought that maybe this was some animal that had been a genetic experiment gone wrong. Since times were more advanced they could assume things like this because many people had starting do these kind of tests. They had jumped to this conclusion rapidly but slowly started to realize and think the supernatural reason
