The Homeless Bird
My book was called the homeless bird by gloria whelan Koly, age thirteen, is to be married to a boy her parents have chosen for her. She has never met him and is anxious to meet him, but she knows her family will benefit from her leaving. Upon meeting her groom, she discovers that his family has deceived her own. Not only is the boy younger than promised, but also he is gravely ill. well koli's mother gave her ear rings when she left to go to her new home well sass wanted kolys earrings so the could take hari to the ganges river and so koly had to hide them in her room well not long after sass finally made koly feel bad so koly gave the earrings up and then when they went to ganges hari died and koly became a widow , basically …show more content…
well koly went back to the train station trying to find away back well this boy raji seen her and asked what she was doing there by herself and well she told him and he said wait here i will be right back and this man came and tried to take koly well koly got away then raji came back he took her too a widows home there koly lived and worked there and even made new friends she also knew how to read unlike most girls so she taught raji how to read well later the head lady of the widow house came to visit and koly and another widow girl had to show her around the house well koly showed the lady her quilt and the lady said tell me about the quilt so koly did and she said that she knew somebody that was looking for girls to sew saris and so the head lady took koly to the mans shop and the man decided to let koly work for him well she did and he liked her work so koly worked and worked and at this time she had heard nothing from raji well one day out of the blue raji came too koly’s work to visit koly and well raji explained where he had been he went back to his home village and he bought land and was living on a farm so then raji said i will need a wife and koly was quiet so then raji said i would like you to be my wife so koly said she was gonna wait raji wrote to her every day koly had said that she was making a quilt and that when she finished she and raji would be married and soon raji and koly got married she went too tell mr dass her boss that she wouldn't be able to work for him anymore that she was leaving and he said that he would come and visit him every couple of months to get work and she worked at home
