Verse 30, “30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” The word grief in Greek is “thlípsi” which also means “to afflict with sorrow.” We as Christians grieve the spirit by living like the Pagans. Ephesians 4:17-19 says 17 Therefore, I tell you and insist on in the Lord not to live any longer like the gentiles live, thinking worthless thoughts. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of their ignorance and hardness of heart. 19 Since they have lost all sense of shame, they have abandoned themselves to sensuality and practice every kind of sexual perversion without restraint.” We also grieve in lying, being angry, stealing, bitterness, being unforgiving, and by being sexual immoral. Ephesians 5:3-5 talks about sexual immorality by saying, “3 Do not let sexual sin, impurity of any kind, or greed even be mentioned among you, as is proper for saints. 4 Obscene, flippant, or vulgar talk is totally inappropriate. Instead, let there be thanksgiving. 5 For you know very well that no immoral or impure person, or anyone who is greedy (that is, an idolater), has an inheritance in the kingdom of the Messiah and of God.” And the word sealed means to have control and never lose it. Once we have Christ in our heart, he will never leave. Ephesians 1:13, says “13 You, too, have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed in the Messiah, you were…
