Many of the allied countries ignored reports of death camps and did not pursue ending the holocaust. They were focused on taking out Nazi military buildings or areas. The Jews tried to resist but they were hugely outgunned and out manned. In the article “The Uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto”, it explains how General Juergen Stroop responded to a Jewish uprising, “Stroop had 2,100 soldiers with 13 heavy machine guns, 69 hand-held machine guns, 135 submachine guns, several howitzers, and 1358 rifles. The 1,200 Jewish resisters had 2 submarine guns and 17 rifles.” Clearly the Jewish have no chance to defeat the Germans. Even though the Jews had nothing to lose the Nazis had too many people and too many guns to be overpowered. In the article “The Hiding”, the Anne Frank family decided to resist the Nazis by going into hiding. They were able to hid for twenty-five months before being captured. The article says, “The Franks were not the only ones trying to go into hiding. In the Netherlands alone, twenty-five thousand people tried to find a safe place.” This means that other than trying to overpower the Nazis the Jews tried to hid from them, but like overpowering the Nazis they were very unsuccessful. Most Jews that tried to hid were captured and sent into death
