6 million Jews were massacred; despite the fear they all felt, thousands mustered the strength, courage, and bravery to live on. In 1939 World War two started. The Holocaust occurred during this time and it was a disgusting and shocking event in the world, it resulted in the death of millions of Jews. During the horrific event the Jews refused to let the Nazis take their lives so easily, they resisted in two forms, armed and unarmed. During the Holocaust, there were various acts of jewish resistance both armed and unarmed in order to honor their religion and pride.
One of two acts of resistance included armed resistance. Jews that escaped from ghettos would join the partisan units to fight against the Nazis. In stanza 3it says “Thousands of Jews escaped from ghettos and joined partisan units in nearby forests” (Armed). Jews would run away and joins others to help fight the Nazis. The Jews showed no fear of fighting back even with little numbers of allies. Another method of armed resistance involves giving support.
Continuing with armed resistance involves supplying. Jews would create various camps and homes to supply the fighters as well as help fight. In stanza 4 it says “In western Belorussia, the western Ukraine, and eastern Poland, family camps were established in which jewish escapees repaired weapons, made clothing cooked food, and assisted soviet partisans operations” (Armed). The camps operated by Jews were important for fighting back and staying nourished. Allowed easy access and were located in various spots. Furthermore is how non violent resistance happened.
