For my site visit, I visited the Holocaust Museum & Learning Center. It is located at 12 Millstone Campus Drive in St. Louis, Missouri. I am extremely happy that I was able to do this visit here. I have always been very interested in the Holocaust and am always open to learning more about it. By doing the site visit here I was able to better understand the background information and what all goes into preparing a museum for visitors to come visit. I learned a lot and while I was there, the place with filled with visitors from schools. It was great to see all of them so interested in the museum. Also, while I was conducting my interview, there was a Holocaust survivor there who was talking to students. Unfortunately, I was not able to stick around long enough to be able to have a conversation with her but I was able to hear it speak for a few minutes.
I interviewed Diane Everman. She is the archivist at the museum. Diane has been with the Holocaust Museum for seven years now and has completely transformed the archives that she has worked with. Diane explained to me that when she first came to the museum and saw the small room that houses the archive collection, it was a mess. There was absolutely no organization or regularity for the room. Diane’s main job is to keep track of the archives and everything that is being donated or gifted to the museum.
