The Holocaust: Are People Really Good At Heart

Introduction Many Jewish people lost their lives during The Holocaust, a tragic event which Jews were killed because they were so called a “disease”. Although this was happening everywhere in Germany, a Jewish girl named Anne Frank said this quote, “ In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Even when she faced the toughest decisions anyone has ever made, she still looked to see the good in people's hearts even though they took family, friends, and loved ones. That is why I am agreeing with Anne’s quote that people are really good at heart. One of the few reasons why I am agreeing with Anne is her kindness shown at Hanukkah. Even though I agree with Annes quote, I can also see how many people would disagree with me based on Mr. Van Danns lack of sympathy and humbleness. Body Paragraph Although there were many friendly gestures in the book, one that stood out to me ultimately is on page 72 from Anne. The text states,
Mr.Frank: This is all Anne’s idea…

Frank (reads) Here’s a IOU that I promise to pay 10 hours of doing whatever you say signed- Anne Frank. I also can tell she’s trying to ask for forgiveness from her mom. During this time the Frank family is still in hiding on Hanukkah day. Notice that girls would not be worrying about presents when their life was on the line. Anne, however, decided to make a kind gesture without telling anyone and did a good job. She even decided to spend her nights knitting Mr.Franks scarf. Instead of getting her sleep, she was working on the presents because she knew that they would celebrate Hanukkah. And even though they weren't new gifts, she knew her family would appreciate them just as much, and that's a true sign of kindness. This act in the end lead Anne to say that people still are really good at
