The Holocaust also known as Shoah a unique event in the 20th century history. It evolved slowly between 1933 and 1945. The Holocaust began because of discrimination of Jews. Later they separated the jews from their communities, persecuted them, and then treated them less than human beings and murdered. In the second world war the Nazi’s wanted to kill all of the Jewish population of Europe and destroy its culture. In 1941 there was 11 million Jews living in Europe by May 1945 the Nazi’s had killed 6 million of them. One-and-a-half of the people killed were children. Although there was a lot of hate towards the Jews they weren't the Nazi’s only target. Millions of other people were also imprisoned enslaved and murdered; the Roma’s, people with mental or physical disabilities, homosexuals, Jehovah's witnesses, trade unionist, political opponents, poles and soviet prisoners of war. The Nazi’s were supported by people from other countries that occupied Europe.

People would hope for better days but they would only get worse. The events that occurred during the Holocaust were terrifying and heartbreaking. Many families were broken up and probably would never see each other again. Innocent lives were taken and people's right to live their life was unrightfully taken because of hate. When the Holocaust ended it was a very depressing moment. Parents were burying children but its was even more difficult trying to go back to their lives. Even though it was over there was a constant reminder of it with the scars that were made and the people who were killed. No one should be punished because of their religion and race.
