The Twilight realm
"Tell me," he murmured thoughtfully as he and Link observe the sun sink onto the horizon, " Do you feel a strange sadness as dusk falls? They say it is the only time when our world intertwines with theirs... the only time when we feel the lingering regrets of spirits that left our world long ago"
Both are listening to the spring’s slow stream of water. Link closes his eyes and begins to imagine what Rusl is saying. “That is why loneliness always pervades the hour of twilight.” Rusl begins to describe the tale of the twilight realm. "It is a world that is opposite of ours," he explains, "Where our world shines with bright light, their world is filled with dim twilight." Link sees a somber, dead field under black clouds and hears only empty vibrations in the

Shame fills the two as both look down in embarrassment. “You poor thing…” Ilia whispers. Link and the mayor exchange looks, both knowing that she’s too powerful for them.
“It’ll be alright Epona,” Ilia declares as link and the mayor look up, “I’ll take you to the forest spring right now.” She begins to walk in the direction of the village exit. “Once we sooth you in the spirit's spring, you’ll feel better in no time!” She leaves the two speechless and motionless.
“W-wait! Ilia!” the mayor finally snaps, but Ilia doesn’t listen to him and continues walking. “Why, without Epona,” the mayor mutters, “the gift won’t get delivered in time!”
They mayor thinks about what will happen to the village’s reputation if the royal family doesn't get their gift in time. He knows there will be consequences.
“Oh, this won’t do…” The mayor loses hope because he knows that his daughter cannot be reasoned with when she’s angry. He looks at Link, who then gives him a look of reassurance, and then quickly takes off in the direction of the spring. “Good luck, my boy, you’ll need

(A playful writing influenced by A. A. Milne’s ‘Winnie the Pooh and Beatrix Potter’ Stories) I gaze from my window to see a slight rustle in the conifers, picking up my binoculars with curiosity I notice a wood pigeon fluttering about; my imagination gets the better of me, thoughts rolled into a story. I don’t believe in happy endings; but I will try and write something with a good end to it and no better way can a story be brought to life than through the antics of wood pigeons. There was a group of eight pigeons and in that group there were five males and three females; I know the odds are not looking good for all the males and some will miss out and, of course, it is generally the weaker ones. It was spring, that time of year when…

As time progresses, Auxilio sees Lilian's happiness within her own life decrease, “I remember Lilian looking at me with her pained, wrinkled doll mask,” (Bolaño 123). Although these two are supposed to be friends, there is a lot of tension that Bolaño expresses throughout Amulet, using the stream of consciousness style. This is rooted in Auxilio’s undeniable jealousy towards Lilian. She is jealous of her work, her son, and stories she tells. Even after thinking or saying something rude about Lilian, Auxilio is very empathetic towards her, referring to Lilian as “the only one who emerges from this story unscathed, since she has already been through it all,” (Bolaño 127).…

Larry Levis’ poem “In the City of Light” contains levels of depth that, with close reading, reveal a sense of what it truly feels like for one to experience loss. The poem chronicles the narrator’s response to his (I presume the narrator is male, although the text does not specify) father’s death, leaving his lover, and analysis of the impact of both events. Upon first reading, I was drawn in by the characterization of the narrator’s loneliness and uncertainty, and sought to grasp a better understanding of the depiction of such feelings. The poem reveals a real human experience through both the narrator’s depth of sensation and his fluctuation of certainty, ultimately demonstrating that loss is not defined by one sad feeling, but leaves the individual struggling to find meaning in the absence of a person.…

Without Representation in Hollywood: The 2016 Oscars The faces that we see, hear and read about in entertainment greatly influence the shaping of American attitudes and beliefs. How minorities are portrayed in the entertainment industry often stereotype and reinforce negative of each ethnic group. The lack of diversity among the membership of entities and organizations that determine awards, such as the nominating committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, impacts how stories are covered and limits opportunities for ethnic minorities in these professions. This year Chris Rock hosted the 2016 Oscars and made several racial remarks. In doing so, it was hard to miss just how the lack of diversity was present this year.…

Barbara Capitelli was shaking, not noticeably, but shaking inside for her feelings were exceptionally strong and vivid. She wanted to get away from Barbara and the only way she could at this moment was to think of someone else’s words of wisdom. “The whisper of solemn finality, the mention of death of a loved one is a deep moment of regret that takes control and squeezes you till the tiny drops of remorse have no place to hide. It is that moment of reflection when you may look back and think about what you should have done instead of what you did.…
