As he continues his linguistic studies,Tolkien decided to joined the faculty of the University of Leeds in 1920. A couple of years later became a professor at Oxford University.While he was at the University,he decided to start a writing group called The Inklings,which counted among it's members C.S. Lewis and Owen Barfield.This took place at Oxford,while grading assignment,he started to spontaneously wrote a short line about "a hobbit."

Tolkiens books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series are known to be one of the most popular books in the world,having tens of millions copies sold.The Rings trilogy was adapted and directed by Peter Jackson into a highly popular,award-winning trios of films starring Ian McKellen, Elijah
