When SpaceX was founded in 2002, there had never been any private entities that launched and re-entered a spacecraft. SpaceX came from the bottom of success when they began since it was a brand new company and space travel was extremely expensive making space travel harder to achieve. Finally though, SpaceX launched their first spacecraft called, “Dragon.” During this flight they not only successfully launched their spacecraft they, “became the first privately developed spacecraft to visit the International Space Station (ISS),” (Preface, Seedhouse). When docking with the ISS, Dragon showed just how truly complex it’s system worked as well as how well they system adjusted to new challenges (being the first privately owned craft to dock on ISS).
