Cleopatra was one of the most popular queens of Egypt and daughter of Ptolemy XII. During her time, women were not considered for leadership roles, but she was able to stand up to protect her country. She was alleged to have an affair with two powerful emperors so as to protect the throne. Cleopatra was also known as the only person in her family who could speak the Egyptian language. Although she failed to secure freedom for Egypt, she inspired many Egyptian women to lead independent lives.
