God told Abraham that he would be very fertile and the he will produce nations from you, and kings will come from you. God said he will set up his covenant with Abraham and his descendants after you in every generation as an enduring covenant. God then said that he will be your God and your descendants’ God after you. God told Abraham that he will give him and his descendants the land which you are immigrants, the whole land of Canaan, as an enduring possession. The only problem was that Abraham was very old and so was his wife Sarah. Sarah then came up with a plan for Abraham to have a kid

The Jews of Sighet have an amazing, but irrational ability to be diluted and optimistic in even the worst of situations. Page after page, the Jews come face to face with impending tragedy, yet, somehow, they remain positive and seem almost blind to their inevitable doom. From the very start, the Jews were in denial. While Moishe warns of the merciless executions of innocent Jews, those in Sighet merely brush him off and merely went back to their “normal lives” (7). Though in the middle of a massive war, they don’t fret about their fate.…

The Lord’s Supper is when believers partake in the eating of bread and drinking of wine. This is done in memory of what Christ did at the last supper when He became the New Covenant. It is also a way to proclaim Christ’s death. Partaking in the Lord’s Supper also shows unity with Christ and connects us to other believers in Christ. It is important to come to the Lord’s Table examining our hearts before sharing in communion.…

In both cases the mosaic covenant and the Davidic covenant are covenants that God himself initiates and are invested in. They both communicate a message of relationship to God, and share what becomes our understanding of Grace, Justice, and Love. The Davidic covenant is a promissory type while the mosaic covenant is an obligatory type. The promises from God are given freely with no stipulations for David; while with Moses there are very serious regulations and rules around the conditions of covenant. In the mosaic covenant there is an exchange: if you do this, then I will do this.…

Canaan, a small piece of land barely larger than the state of New Jersey, has been fought over for thousands of years. What made this tiny strip of land so valuable was its military strategic value, for it was the gateway to the continents of Asia and Africa. Not only that, whoever controlled Canaan also had control of the lucrative trade routes that crisscrossed the terrain, making the land of Canaan a vital land bridge for crossing armies and goods. While Canaan attracted many major powers, such as the Egyptians and Hittites, it fell victim to many petty Canaanite, Transjordanian, and Mesopotamian kingdoms wishing to establish a foothold in the region whose loyalties would sway from one major power to another.…

Disobedience is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as, “not doing what someone or something that authority tells you to do: refusing or failing to obey rules, laws, etc.” In the Old Testament there seems to be countless stories of kings, God’s people, and specific characters that practice the art of disobedience- when they are called to obey. Their disobedient nature causes pain, agony, and loss. It’s safe to say that the act of being disobedient has been around since the creation of man. If we look at the very beginning of Genesis, we are able to see the first disobedient act of mankind.…

Again, Abraham is promised that he is “part of God’s covenant, that he will have both land and descendants (Dempsey 237.)” The establishment of circumcision is spoken of and Abraham orders that all the males of his household be circumcised, including Ishmael. The Abrahamic Covenant is referencing a tribe, where by the time God gives the Mosaic Covenant, the tribe has grown into a nation as was predicted in the Abrahamic Covenant. The Abrahamic Covenant is placed in the first chapter of the Bible, in the book of Genesis, and the Mosaic Covenant comes later in the second chapter of the Bible, in the book of Exodus. The Abrahamic Covenant is marked with signs with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. A sign with Abraham that males must be circumcised and the changing of Abrams and Sarai’s name. A sign with Isaac was the building of an altar and called on the name of the Lord.…

There has been a vast number of topics we have touched on this semester, from creation to David’s raise to power, but the topic that intrigues me the most is the one that points back to the faithfulness, love, and grace of God, despite man 's constant enmity with God we see his mercy towards us from the beginning. Therefore in this research paper I have decided to delve a little deeper into the Abrahamic covenant; the theological implications of Abraham reach down to a depth that I am unable to dig, but my goal is to see the immense glory of God in three ways. Genesis chapter twelve verse one tells us God called Abraham, not because he was more righteous than most, not because he was a man of great prestige, nor did God call Abraham because Abraham sought after God. Rather the choice that God made was done solely for His glory ( Romans 11:36). Secondly, God promised to bless Abraham, in three…
