The Hill Reaction Between Light And Chloroplasts

The Hill reaction proves that water is the primary electron donator to the artificial electron acceptor in the presence of light and chloroplasts. This reaction can vary in absorbance based on the different variables used to modify it. Here, presence of inhibitors, light intensity and wavelengths were all variables used to tests the effects on the Hill reaction. The inhibitors tested were ammonia and DCMU. The effects of light intensity were varied by changing the distance from the light source to the cuvette solution. The effects of the different wavelengths of light were examined by using color gels of red, green, blue, and yellow. All the cuvettes tested had the dye DCPIP present in order to test the rate of photosynthesis. A spectrometer
