The housing market is very completive because homes often kept in the family for many generations. There are many restaurants and factories that are nationally recognized such as Amighetti's Bakery, J. Viviano and Sons grocery, Cunetto's House of Pasta, Di Gregorio's grocery, Mama Toscano's Ravioli, and Missouri Baking Company. The most nationally recognized business housed on the Hill is the Volpi Food factory which makes Italian meat for nationwide places as well as some exports. This places are fun to go to get great food and meet new people. All this restaurants and business are proudly apart of the Hill Business Association which is known as the HBA. The Hill Business Association creation was headed by my father still diligently serves as the group’s president. The purpose of the group is “to promote and maintain a prosperous business community on the Hill; to develop and provide an attractive commercial component to compliment the residential character of the area; and to establish and encourage a fraternal spirit for the membership.” The Hill Business Association has helped continue to the tradition of old establishments and brings new businesses to the area. The two most known athletes that called the Hill home were baseball legends Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola. They were neighbors who famously grew up together playing ball in field which now called Berra Park, the park of the Hill by coincidence named after Louis Berra who had no relations to Yogi Berra. The street that Yogi Berra’s house lays on is now known as “Hall of Fame Place”. His house is on the next block of my street, starting at 5 am that morning people started flocking to the Hill to pay respects to the baseball great after he passed in September of 2015. This was slightly annoying for me because my street was constantly backed up and people would stop to ask directions to his house but I quickly got over it as I saw the influence that he has left behind.
