The High Cost Of College

For most students, college is the next big step in their lives. To be truly successful in this day and age in the job field you desire you need a good education outside of high school. This is where college comes in. Some people are starting to believe different tho. “Only 42% of the American population believe college is necessary for the workforce”(Agenda Public). Students have a big decision to make when it comes to which college to choose. There are many things to consider when it comes to which college to pick, like location, tuition, degrees, room and board, and environment. Certain types of colleges comes with different price tags. When also determining how much you would like to pay for tuition, is also how good of an education you desire. If you would like to acquire an Associate’s Degree, then a two year college would be good decision. “A two year college’s tuition would about $3,500. Anything different than that will require a higher cost. A four year public college will cost $9,500-$10,000" (College Costs: FAQs). A two year college can also be a community college. The degree you would receive for a four year public college would be a Bachelor’s Degree. Now, if you are going to attend a public college out of state, there will be an out of state costs. There are four types of degrees you can obtain, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate. An Associate’s degree requires two of schooling. This is just a general college education, no specifying major is being received. “While an associate's degree can get you off to a good start, many of today's employment opportunities require a minimum of a bachelor's degree. More difficult jobs require more schooling as in receiving a master's or doctorate degree.
