In a dark forest, where trees lay waste and the land was ridden with darkness, there lies a castle with shattered windows and a dreary look. Black streaks ran down its bricks giving it a desolate look and ridden with a sense of malevolence. The castle rests on the precipice of a cliffside. The cliff was an insurance of death due to the long fall. At the bottom beheld jagged rocks and the thunderous sound of waves crashing against the side of the cliff. The water was black and rapid with movement. The weather was dangerous with treacherous explosions of thunder and the loud cracks of lightning. The castle was known as The Castle of Series. It lay waiting for a new coming owner. The woods resembled a maze with its winding paths and large marshes …show more content…
Minutes had passed and the rain still pounding against him decided he could no longer wait. As he was about to try and enter the door opened with such ferocity he lurched back with a sense of shock and fear. A man appeared from the shadows standing at the door. The candle light in the castle revealed the silhouette of a tall skinny man. The silhouette with a deep and gravelly voice asked, “ Who are you ,and how did you get here ? ” Puzzled by the question Edward answered, “ My name is Edward. I was just traveling through the woods ,and I became lost. I don’t know where else to go and this castle is the only shelter that I’ve seen for miles. May I take shelter from the pouring rain ? “ Although Edward could not see the face or the eyes of the man standing before him he felt as though he was being examined thoroughly. There was a long pause before the dark figure answered, “ I don’t normally take in strangers but very well you may come in. “ The man turned around and walked toward the …show more content…
It continued to pour down on the land filling it with water. Edward knew he would be unable to leave the castle for the time being. Sitting on his bed, he decided to look around. It was a large with much to be explored. He ventured from his room but instead of heading towards the stairs he turned right and continued to walk down the corridor. At the end of the corridor was a door unlike the rest. The door had been worn down and discolored. Edwards curiosity was peaked, so he opened the door slowly to reveal what seemed to be an old and forgotten room. Glass lay upon the floor from the window. Some of the furniture in the room was tipped over or torn in different areas. Shocked by the state of the room he decided he did not belong there. He turned to leave the room his eyes widened when he realised that the door had vanished. His mind scrambled as he tried to feel the wall for the door. He stepped back and with much confusion said under his breath “ What is this ? “ A voice spoke from behind Edward “ What are you talking about ? “ Edward whipped around with a joult only to be surprised by a formally dressed man wearing a tailcoat, black as the night, with a top hat. Baffled as to where this man came from all he could do was stutter, “ Where did you come from? Who are you?” The formally dressed man chuckled and replied “ My name is Lennix and I should be the heir to this castle. This is my room. I hide away in here. I have a few well

Because of this, Edward is left alone to live a life of isolation in his gloomy castle, stuck with scissors for hands. Ironically, this castle is found at the end of a purposely unremarkable, normal neighborhood. The juxtaposition created is almost comical. Suspension of disbelief must be applied, because not only do any of the characters not question why there is a castle in their neighborhood, they also do not show any real concern for the medical implications of Edward’s condition. Additionally, the events of the film are told by an older version of Kim, presumably to her own granddaughter, in a sort of fairy tale-esque bedtime story.…

In his mainly “psychoanalytical interpretation” of the black/white binary, Fanon establishes certain mandates or a set of axioms such as “the black man wants to be white”, “the white man slaves to reach a human level”, “the white man is sealed in his whiteness”, “the black man in his blackness”; he also establishes two facts: “white men consider themselves superior to black men” and “black men want to prove to the white man, at all costs, the richness of their thought, the equal value of their intellect” (Fanon 3). By basing his analysis on these presumptions, he reveals his belief…
